Rendering Details of Trooper Transmission Related Problems

Trooper was a mid-size Sports Utility Vehicle produced from the house of Isuzu Motors between 1981 and 2005. It was marketed globally under different names including Bighorn, Caribe 442, Holden Jackaroo, Acura SLX to name a few.

This vehicle was not produced on a large scale from 2002 since the automaker had reported many transmission-related problems from its users, and the company had conducted few recalls as well. In the following sections, we are detailing some of the frequently encountered Isuzu Trooper transmission problems, take a look.

Transmission Slipping

Some Trooper owners have faced issues related to transmission slipping. But, as of 2010, the company hasn’t announced any recall concerning this transmission issue. The consumers clearly point out the sliding to the transmission bands draining inside the SUV.

Usually, each gear will have a transmission band, which grips it in one point as the user changes into next gear. So, damaged bands can certainly result in the slipping of transmission system. If you have experienced this situation, then immediately contact the concerned vehicle dealer.

Transmission Failure

Many Trooper owners have complained about transmission failure, which is usually caused due to overheating of the transmission unit, and also due to operating the vehicle with a blocked transmission filter. Generally, the gearbox filter gathers most of the wreckage caused by wear of the transmission gears.

When the filter is blocked with transmission debris, then it won’t permit the free flow of fresh fluid inside the gearbox gears, which inturn creates more friction, resulting transmission to trot hotter, and eventually leading to transmission failure.

Low Transmission Fluid

Several transmission issues in Trooper are usually attributed to relatively low transmission fluid, and some reports indicate that a porous value could be the main problem. Due to this problem, your vehicle can slip gears or jerk whenever you shift gears or it may not let the vehicle to move at all. So, the consumers are advised to add transmission fluid, whenever the fluid level goes below the top-line in the dipstick used to measure the fluid level.
